When was the last time you had an “aha” moment that really excited you?

For me it was during a recent family trip to Disneyland. I was keynoting at a conference in Indian Wells, California, and our kids tagged along for a quick visit to Disney before the school year began. We were at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and I realized my kids were totally wrapped up in the experience and felt like they were truly part of the story/ride, not just spectators watching it unfold. That memory of them looking around in wonder and excitement is one that I’ll never forget.

As we look through all of our learning, skills, and talent development data in preparation for our upcoming livestream event, this stat stuck out to me:

𝐄𝐦𝐩π₯𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐑𝐚𝐭 𝐩π₯𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐧 𝐭𝐑𝐞𝐒𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 πŸ•πŸ% 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 π₯𝐒𝐀𝐞π₯𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐝 𝐚 π¦πžπ¦π¨π«πšπ›π₯𝐞, 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐒𝐭𝐒𝐯𝐞 π₯𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐒𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐀 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐑𝐞 π₯𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫.

We often think that when it comes to learning, it’s all about content, training, and instruction. That’s part of it, but it’s also about experiences and how those link to the future in which we see ourselves.

The data we’ve collected clearly demonstrate that learners are hungry for those experiences. We may not have the budget to create a Disney-like experience around them when it comes to learning and skill development, but we can still elevate and accentuate the positive aspects of talent development to hit that milestone of a “memorable, positive” experience.

Our people will be better for it in the moment (skill growth) but will also be better for it in the long term (employee retention and a path to success).

So, what does it take to develop a high-performing workforce with validated, proven employee skills?

On September 17th, you are welcome to register to join the 700+ learning, HR and talent leaders already signed up to find out! Hint: creating a culture of development and growth and investing in your people creates massive ROI for employers.

During our livestream event, we’ll be unveiling Lighthouse Research & Advisory data on more than 1,100 global employers and 1,000 workers at our Learning Research Release Livestream. This 2.5 hour session is approved for SHRM/HRCI credits and will feature an incredible opening panel with Terri Lewis, the CHRO of One Call, and Ben Sieke, the Head of Learning at Delta Dental, on leadership perspectives on talent development and growth.

The Lighthouse team is proud to be working with our partners Glider AI, Betterworks, and Atana to tell this story in a powerful, tangible way.

And last but not least on this action-packed agenda, George and I will be diving into the research (like the data points above) to share what’s new, what’s changing, and what’s ahead for employers that want to develop and retain a qualified, high-performing workforce.

We’d love to see you there!
