As reported by Yahoo Finance, Cornerstone plans to acquire learning experience platform (LXP) EdCast. In our analysis of the learning technology market, we’ve spent some significant time reviewing the various LXP providers. Cornerstone has been fighting its way into that market in recent history, and this move is going to easily move them right into the pack with the frontrunners. Frankly, this makes a lot of sense:
- Both Cornerstone and EdCast have a global presence.
- They both have a strong set of enterprise customers.
- They’re both not just in learning tech but also in learning content, which we’re seeing more often as a matched set.
- Both have a focus on AI, innovation, and skills. You can’t say that many learning companies have those three elements all together.
I’ve spent some time with the Cornerstone team over the last year as they’ve built their new AI-fueled skills strategy, and they have a big, big vision for where this is going. In addition, I’ve test driven the EdCast Spark software for SMBs and that foundation (both technologically and audience) could open some interesting new areas for Cornerstone to compete with a more midmarket-focused offering, should they choose to go that direction.
Excited to see what happens next.
